What kinds of ideas about presentation skills did you think about as sir ken robinson presented his ideas about education? how could you incorporate what you saw into your own ted talk?
Sir Ken Robinson kept his audience engaged with humor. Intricately weaved throughout his speech were many different jokes pertaining to the topic and examples of irony. He had excellent analogies and superb comparisons that captured listeners interest as well as their imagination. His comparison of education to death valley was the main analogy he used throughout his speech, and served to keep listeners engaged with what they were hearing. His body language was friendly and open, and if watched closely enough he makes eye contact with the audience continually. This TED talk could be incorporated into my own TED talk because the information presented in Sir Ken Robinson's talk is universal and would transfer to any talk on this subject matter.
How did Sir ken robinson's talk resonate with you? How might/Might not Genius hour support ken robinson's ideas about how to change education?
Sir Ken Robinson's talk made me think about the education in our country today. His comparison to Finland's educational system helped me see the differences and similarities that are present. His talk showed how are educational pattern follows a pattern and is extremely habitual and ritualistic with the forethought that what works for one child will work for another instead of making a child's education his or her own. I believe Genius Hour does not support Sir Ken Robinson's ideas about education because it is not an option, it is a requirement. There are many kids who would rather read SSR then have to make a website for the world to see what they are passionate about. Sir Ken Robinson's ideas have the option of choice, Genius hour would be a good choice for students who did not want to read SSR, but for those who do, the Genius Hour is just as monotonous as the reading SSR is for those who do not gather anything from it. Sir Ken Robinson's ideas state that a not every person learns the same way, this being said, some will benefit from Genius Hour while others will not and would benefit more from reading SSR.
